Audacity: Mashup Tutorial: Lavender Row Commercial

My love for Audacity is coming to an end, this program hates me. I wanted to create a commercial for my movie trailer so I chose to do a mash-up of Disney songs along with songs that gave a superhero saves the day feel, and the last song about always being there for someone no matter what.

Tutorial:

I first added the song to the first track. This I did by hitting the record button on Audacity and then hitting play on the track in SoundCloud. Once complete I hit the stop button to complete the track.

Next, I hit mute on my first track and recorded the second track, by adding a new track by choosing tracks, add a new track.

I proceeded with the same steps from above to add the track, hit record on Audacity, and play on Soundcloud, then stopped when I wanted the track to stop. Then I muted this track also. I did this with all of the remaining tracks and then muted them all.

I have not figured out how to me tracks within the different track lines so I copied and pasted the tracks together by choosing the entire line of track and opening a new window and splicing them all together with CTRL C and the CTRL V.

After the tracks were copied and pasted to one single track I then added fades to create a good transition between songs. I did this by chosing fade in, choose the block you want to work with use your curser to chose and then use the option on the tool bar called effects. Chose fade in and the fade will appear within that block.

Seen here…

The part that I did was try and alter my voice; it didn’t go as well as I had hoped, but it is different and advertises the movie. I went to https://voicechanger.io/ where this gave me the ability to record my voice and then change it to a lower tone. Its a little creepy, but it worked. I chose this option to create a lower tone in my voice.

I then hit record on Audacity and play on my recording and recorded it into my already created audio block. I then edited it by dragging my mouse and deleting the parts of dead silence, and added a fade in.

Here is my voice clip and fade in.

Final product:

911 Call…Hide under the TOILET PAPER!!…2 STARS

I chose this assignment because I wanted to have a little fun. Even though COVID is not a joking matter. It has been a long week and to create something that gave me a little chuckle is something that I needed. Meet my character, Sarah. She is funny and very concerned about what has just transpired with the virus that is fast approaching. She wants to do everything she can to save her mother from death and keep her safe away from the virus.

Tutorial:

To create this assignment, I found it easier to record straight from my computer to Audacity. I googled for the emergency alert system noise. I then hit record on Audacity and then play on YouTube and let the sounds record into Audacity.

Here you can see the first track of the emergency brocast in audicity. I then needed to create another sound to layer on top of the emergency brocast sound, here I chose to add new stero track and created a new block in the audicity applicaiton.

I chose to add a new stereo track and created a new block in the audacity application. To create an overlay of a new sound.

I then pulled up Freesound and played a track into Audacity application of emergency vehicles into the second track. So to do this I hit record on audacity and then play on the freesound track to capture the sound. Once the sound was complete I hit the Stop button seen in BLACK with a square to stop the audio from recording.

The next step I needed to add one more track to my audio recording of myself, as Sarah my character leaving a message for her mother. I selected to add a new stereo track.

The last track is me with my headset attached to my computer recording the message, I hit record and started to record. Once finished with the recording I hit the stop button. I then made sure that all tracks were open to listen to and proceeded to listen to my creation.

In this step, I needed to save my work to my computer to make it available to upload to SoundCloud. I chose export and save as WAV.

Here is how I saved my work as 911.

This step I pulled up SoundCloud and began the process of uploading my work into their website.

After choosing upload and choosing 911 from my files, I gave my audio file a title and saved it into the SoundCloud site.

In order to embed your SoundCloud audio into your blog, you must copy the link that SoundCloud provides on their page and then copy and paste it into your blog to embed.

What a song might mean to you… Let’s Get Hitched. 3.5 STARS

I chose this assignment because it reminds me of being young and in love when I got married. We were young and in love and had no idea what we were doing. It was such a wonderful time of having no other worries than being in love and looking forward to the future. This is the song that I danced with my husband to at our wedding. It was the start of a new life and a journey that we are still on and continue to be on after 14 years.

Tutiorial:

To create this assignment I used YouTube and looked up the song by Nora Jones called Come Away With Me.

I then chose the song by copying the the URL and embedding it into my blog.

Then I proceeded to Audicity to record my portion of what this song means to me.

I went into audacity and connected my headphones to my laptop; the echo is so bad that I can not wear them, but I talk into the microphone. Once I have that setup, I hit the record button, which is the red button on the right of the screen on audacity to record my audio portion on the assignment.

I recorded my audio and chose under file to import the file as a WAV to my computer.

I then pulled up SoundCloud and uploaded my file to Soundcloud.

Here I copied the link highlighted in blue and embedded it into my blog

This is how I created the assignment.

Mashups… 4 STARS

I did this assignment because it looked like I would enjoy creating a group of peaceful songs. These days having a bit of peace is not easy with taking 15 credits this summer and having two kids at home. I enjoyed this assignment; I hope you enjoy it.

This assignment was created by using Audicity and SoundCloud. I first looked up songs that were free to use and did not contain required rights.

I ran those songs through the record option on Audicity.

I saved each individual song and then began to mash them up. Once I had deleted the blank sound and added and mashed the songs together by deleting the space in between them. I copied and pasted each song into the audio block to create one very long song.

I then imported the completed song to my computer, uploaded it to SoundCloud, added my sunset picture, and then copied the link and embedded it into my blog.

Sound Effects… Nightly Chores… 3.5 STARS

This was my first attempt with Audacity, and it was very frustrating. After many YouTube videos, I figured it out. I chose this array of sounds because this is part of my daily routine every evening once the kids have gone to bed.

This assignment was created with Audacity, it was not easy and I hope I can get the hang of it. I downloaded my sounds from Freesounds.com and then I chose my first sound to use when I opened Audacity.

From there I unclicked the icon that looks like an I and found where I wanted the first part of my audio to stop. I then proceeded to highlight the area wanted to delete and hit the delete key.

I then took my second, third, fourth, and fifth sound and highlighted and copied and pasted into the same audio clip for the first audio clip.

I then overlapped them by deleting the space between them and then by importing the audio file to my computer.

I then pulled up SoundCloud and chose the option to upload and dragged and dropped my file into SoundCloud.

There were options to add pictures to your file once imported to Soundcloud. I then took a picture of a plate and added it to the file.

I then copied the link SoundCloud provided and embedded it into my blog.

This was a learning experience.
